A Challenging Weekend at Imola

The third round of the 2026 European Le Mans Series presented Richard Verschoor and Duqueine Team with one of their toughest weekends of the season so far. After arriving at Imola leading the LMP2 Pro/Am championship, the team faced setbacks throughout the race but fought back to secure valuable championship points.

Promising pace from the start

The weekend began on a positive note, with Duqueine Team once again demonstrating the speed that has made the #30 Oreca one of the leading cars in the LMP2 Pro/Am field this season. The team secured class pole position in qualifying, underlining the pace of the car around the iconic Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari and putting themselves in a strong position for Sunday’s four-hour race.

A Race Full of Challenges

Throughout the race, the #30 crew encountered several setbacks that prevented them from converting their strong qualifying performance into another podium finish. Despite the challenges, Richard Verschoor, Doriane Pin and Giorgio Roda continued to push throughout the four-hour contest, recovering positions whenever possible and keeping themselves in the fight for valuable championship points.

The trio eventually crossed the finish line seventh in the LMP2 Pro/Am category. While the result fell short of the team’s expectations after starting from class pole, the determination shown throughout the race reflected the resilience that has characterised their season so far.

Eyes on the Championship Fight

Imola may not have delivered the result the team was aiming for, but the championship is far from over. With podium finishes already secured in Barcelona and Le Castellet, along with a strong performance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Verschoor and Duqueine Team remain firmly focused on the bigger picture. Every point collected could prove decisive as the European Le Mans Series season heads into its final rounds.

Next Up: Spa-Francorchamps

The focus now shifts to one of the most iconic circuits on the calendar: 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. Richard Verschoor and Duqueine Team will be looking to return to the podium and strengthen their position in the LMP2 Pro/Am championship as the 2026 ELMS season continues.
