Richard Verschoor, Doriane Pin and Giorgio Roda finished fourth in LMP2 Pro/Am at the 4 Hours of Silverstone, keeping their 2026 European Le Mans Series title ambitions firmly alive. After a challenging opening half and extremely difficult weather conditions, the #30 Duqueine Team Oreca fought its way back through the field, with Verschoor completing a strong final stint to secure important championship points.
Starting from the Second Row
The penultimate ELMS weekend of the season started positively for Duqueine Team. With every point becoming increasingly important in the championship battle, the #30 crew showed competitive pace throughout the practice sessions at Silverstone. Giorgio Roda once again took responsibility for qualifying and put the #30 Oreca third on the LMP2 Pro/Am grid. It gave the team a strong starting position for Sunday’s four-hour race and another opportunity to fight at the front of the category.
Changing Conditions Turn the Race Upside Down
Silverstone lived up to its reputation for unpredictable weather. Overnight rain left the circuit wet ahead of the start, while changing conditions throughout the race made tyre choice, strategy and staying out of trouble increasingly important. After starting third in class, the #30 initially lost ground during the opening part of the race. A longer first pit stop and difficult conditions pushed the car further down the LMP2 Pro/Am order.
Doriane Pin took over from Roda for the middle part of the race just as the weather deteriorated. Heavy rain, multiple neutralisations and rapidly changing grip levels made it one of the most demanding phases of the four-hour contest. Despite dropping as far as 11th in class, Pin kept the car in the fight. As conditions became increasingly challenging, she worked her way back through the field and brought the #30 into contention for a strong result before handing the car over to Verschoor.
Verschoor Charges Back into the Top Four
Richard Verschoor took over for the decisive final stint with work still to do. After rejoining seventh in LMP2 Pro/Am, Verschoor immediately began closing the gap to the cars ahead. Navigating traffic and changing track conditions, he steadily moved the #30 back towards the front.
A strong late-race charge brought Verschoor into fifth before the final round of pit stops. With only minutes remaining, the #30 moved into fourth position. The pressure was not over. Verschoor had to defend from the chasing CLX Motorsport Oreca during the closing laps while managing traffic around the fast Silverstone circuit. He held his position to the chequered flag, completing an impressive recovery to P4 in LMP2 Pro/Am.
Championship Decider Awaits in Portimão
After five rounds, Verschoor, Pin and Roda remain right in the fight for the 2026 European Le Mans Series LMP2 Pro/Am title. The #30 Duqueine Team crew heads into the season finale with 61 points, just six points away from the championship lead. After podiums, pole positions and several comeback drives throughout the season, everything is still to play for.
Next up is the final and most important ELMS race of the season: the 4 Hours of Portimão on October 10, where Richard Verschoor and Duqueine Team will fight for the LMP2 Pro/Am championship.
